Growing up in the 1980s Soviet Estonia was a world different from today’s childhood. We had to be very creative to fill our free time – there were no smartphones or kids TV channels, we had very few toys and even coloured pencils were a luxury. What we wore was more a matter of availability and not of style. But nevertheless it was a happy childhood full of friends and play. We played everywhere and with everyone. The entire neighbourhood was our playground.
This series, shot in Sindi especially for “Pärnu, kids and fashion” exhibition, tries to depict how the childhood looked and felt like back in 1980s.
